Con esta finalidad, se est\u00e1 explorando la utilizaci\u00f3n de nuevos pol\u00edmeros para disminuir los costes en la fabricaci\u00f3n de productos de almacenamiento y para reducir la huella de carbono en todo el proceso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En la actualidad, los <strong>pol\u00edmeros <\/strong>se utilizan en las bater\u00edas de iones de litio como aditivos y\/o aglutinantes, pero las nuevas bater\u00edas requieren de innovaciones polim\u00e9ricas para subsanar los problemas tecnol\u00f3gicos actuales. Por ejemplo, se necesitan pol\u00edmeros innovadores redox-activos para su uso como materiales activos en las tecnolog\u00edas emergentes de bater\u00edas basadas en pol\u00edmeros, como las bater\u00edas de flujo redox de pol\u00edmeros (pRFBs) y las bater\u00edas org\u00e1nicas h\u00edbridas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las <strong>ventajas de la utilizaci\u00f3n de pol\u00edmeros<\/strong> son, entre otras, que evitan la utilizaci\u00f3n de metales pesados t\u00f3xicos, no necesitan vincular las bater\u00edas a un sistema de refrigeraci\u00f3n que evite el sobrecalentamiento a partir de una determinada temperatura y tienen una elevada velocidad de carga y descarga. Sus caracter\u00edsticas posibilitan que su impacto medioambiental sea mucho menor y contribuyan de forma m\u00e1s eficiente a la descarbonizaci\u00f3n del planeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Investigaci\u00f3n en la empresa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Como empresa especializada en soluciones de almacenamiento energ\u00e9tico enfocada en la innovaci\u00f3n constante, <strong>E22 participa en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polystorage-etn.eu\/\">POLYSTORAGE<\/a><\/strong>, un proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollo (I+D) de bater\u00edas polim\u00e9ricas en el que participa un consorcio europeo con la financiaci\u00f3n de la Uni\u00f3n Europea y una peque\u00f1a participaci\u00f3n de fondos australianos. El objetivo de este proyecto es formar en esta materia a 16 investigadores, estudiantes de doctorado, con proyectos individuales en los campos de la ciencia de los pol\u00edmeros y el almacenamiento electroqu\u00edmico de energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLa evoluci\u00f3n del sistema energ\u00e9tico necesita de un almacenamiento de energ\u00eda de una naturaleza innovadora. En este proyecto se apuesta no solo por el desarrollo de tecnolog\u00eda sino tambi\u00e9n por cient\u00edficos j\u00f3venes y con gran potencial de desarrollo\u201d, explica <strong>Veselin Miroslavov Veselinov<\/strong>, product manager de E22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las 16 personas seleccionadas forman un equipo de investigaci\u00f3n internacional, intersectorial y multidisciplinar formado por 12 beneficiarios (8 universidades europeas, 2 institutos de investigaci\u00f3n europeos, 2 empresas europeas) y 11 socios del proyecto (2 organizaciones acad\u00e9micas y 9 empresas europeas).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEste tipo de proyectos nos brinda la oportunidad de atraer talento joven al departamento de I+D, al mismo tiempo que nos permite crear plataformas de intercambio de conocimiento entre el sector investigador y la industria, estableciendo sinergias entre ambos\u201d, asegura <strong>Jos\u00e9 Angel Horcajada<\/strong>, material I+D manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el caso de E22, es un socio industrial que se ocupa del dise\u00f1o de un prototipo semiindustrial de bater\u00eda de flujo redox polim\u00e9rica que utilice los pol\u00edmeros sintetizados por otras instituciones durante el proyecto. Con dicho fin, la compa\u00f1\u00eda ha contratado a Athul Seshadri Ramanujam como doctorando para trabajar en el dise\u00f1o. Su tarea se ha iniciado con un estudio de viabilidad de diferentes tecnolog\u00edas polim\u00e9ricas y la comparaci\u00f3n de estas qu\u00edmicas novedosas con tecnolog\u00edas maduras en el mercado. Las conclusiones de este estudio tecno-econ\u00f3mico servir\u00e1n de base para la selecci\u00f3n de la qu\u00edmica adecuada en la que basar el dise\u00f1o del prototipo semiindustrial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Athul Seshadri<\/strong> valora muy positivamente esta oportunidad de participar en un proyecto para impulsar la transici\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica. \u201cA medida que se produce la transici\u00f3n de los combustibles f\u00f3siles a las energ\u00edas renovables es necesario el desarrollo paralelo de sistemas de almacenamiento de energ\u00eda sostenibles\u201d, afirma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLas bater\u00edas de flujo redox basadas en pol\u00edmeros ofrecen una v\u00eda para avanzar hacia un almacenamiento de energ\u00eda m\u00e1s barato y respetuoso con el medio ambiente. Trabajar en el \u00e1rea de I+D de E22 me da la oportunidad de dise\u00f1ar una bater\u00eda desde un punto de vista industrial con el foco puesto en el mercado de almacenamiento de
